Monica G. Osgood, MA has helped diverse individuals develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills for over 30 years. She is the Founder of the Celebrate the Children School Model, Senior DIR Faculty Member, and creator of the 5Cs Developmental Strategies. Groups use a combination of structured activities and facilitated free-play to build the capacities of COMFORT, COMPETENCE, CONFIDENCE, CONTROL and COMMUNICATION. Peer relationships, social skills, thinking, and communication are intensively targeted through fun, meaningful experiences.
Progress must start with a relationship. We want to support children to become happy, secure, social and creative people, who can think outside the box and think on their feet. We must respect and support each child's unique profile while promoting development through meaningful, relationship-based experiences. The relationships that support this development are built on respect and trust. For children who experience the world in an often disorganized and sometimes fearful way, these trusting relationships require patience and nurturing." - Monica Osgood
